Kaffeesatz XL, Mo. 13.10., 17-19h: "skug"

2-Stunden-Sendung! Die 100.e Ausgabe des Wiener Magazins “skug – Journal für Musik”.2-hours-show! 100th edition of the Viennese music magazine “skug – Journal für Musik”.
Weil eine “Kaffeesatz”-Spezialsendung, eben “Kaffeesatz XL”, startet die Sendung bereits um 17h. Dani & Johanna haben “skug”-Herausgeber Alfred Pranzl und -Chefredakteur Heinrich Deisl (man kennt ihn auch vom CR94.4) getroffen und mit ihnen zwei Stunden über Popmusik, das Magazinmachen und die österreichische Musikszene geplaudert.
“skug – Journal für Musik” wurde im Herbst 1990 als Vierteljahresheft gegründet, diesen Oktober feiern sie Ausgabe Nr. 100. Ganz am Anfang nannte es sich im Untertitel “Subversive Wisdom”, dann “Clever Wrong in Music” und schließlich – weil vom handgemachten Fanzine zum seriösen Magazin – “Journal für Musik”. Es ist das mittlerweile längstgediente Musikmagazin Österreichs und beschäftigt sich mit Musik, Film, Literatur, Kunst und Performance. Vom experimentellen Elektroniklärm bis Conchita Wurst, von Lust und Frust des Heftmachens bis zu Live-Feierlichkeiten rund um die runde Ausgabe mit 2 Festivals und einem Symposium.
Den Auftakt macht das “Salon skug extended” Festival inkl. Heft-Releaseparty am Do. 16. und Fr. 17.10. im Wiener Club rhiz. Dort gibt es das skug #100 dann auch in echt. Auf der skug-Homepage findet man den Inhalt des diesmal 100-seitigen Magazins sowie die Line-Ups der Festivals.

This show tonight is a special feature, it’s a “Kaffeesatz XL”. That’s why it starts already at 5pm. Dani & Johanna met the editor and the editor-in-chief of “skug”, Alfred Pranzl and Heinrich Deisl; the latter you maybe know also from this radio station. We talked with them for two hours about pop music, the editing of a print magazin and the Austrian music scene.
“skug – Journal für Musik” was founded as a quaterly in late 1990, this october they celebrate its 100th edition. In the very beginning, its subtitle was “Subversive Wisdom”, then changed to “Clever Wrong in Music” and then to “Journal für Musik” due to the transformation from a hand-made fanzine to a regular medium. By now it’s the longest-running Austrian music magazine and covers music, film, literature, art, and performance. In this show, we are going from experimental electronic noise to Conchita Wurst, talk about pain and pleasure of producing such a magazine and about the live events for to celebrate: 2 festivals and a symposium.
As a start, there will be the festival “Salon skug extended” with a release party of the magazine on Thu. 16th and Fri. 17th october in the Viennese music club rhiz. There you can get your real copy of the mag. The “skug” homepage features not only the table of contents of vol. 100 with its this time 100 pages but also all the line-ups of the festivals.
