Modulisme (translates Modularism) is a media supporting left-field Modular Synthesis. A platform that aims to support original composing, for analogue modular systems but not only: providing resources, interviews, radio programs an in-deep activities related to technical, historical, and aesthetic issues of modular synthesizer music
productions.

Sessions – There we are offering original music and developing a platform that will document the genre and draw attention upon the composers who make it strong. We are championing the use of analogue instruments, the use of electricity to sustain a sound produced with a musical intent, BUT what matters is the composition itself, the research/creation process, its interpretation/result and not the tools to achieve what composers may have in mind. Different relationships occur between the constructive will of the musician and the nature of the material at his disposal. Sometimes a preliminary idea commands the sounds and instruments of the studio, sometimes, conversely, the possibilities of the sounds and equipment condition the musical idea.

Philippe Petit, born, raised and living in Marseille (F), is a journalist for various magazins and radio DJ since 1983, as well as a musical activist, has celebrated more than 35 years of sharing and transmitting his musical passions. Since the early 2000s Petit has served as a »musical travel agent« and has been performing worldwirde. Releases on labels such as Aagoo, Monotype, Sub Rosa and Staubgold.

Modulisme beschäftigt sich mit der Dokumentation von Kompositionen mit modularen Synthesizern. Es ist eine Plattform, die der aus dem französischen Marseille stammende Musiker, Labelbetreiber, Kurator und Kulturaktivist Philippe Petit im Frühling 2019 gegründet hat. Seit den 1960er Jahren haben sich besonders die Ingenieure Bob Moog, Don Buchla und Serge Tcherepnin um diese Synthesizer verdient gemacht, in Modulisme geht es vor allem um von Buchla und Serge entwickelte Musikmaschinen. Es geht um komponierte elektroakustische und elektronische Experimentalmusik in unterschiedlichsten Facetten und vielfältigen Ausprägungen.

Das Portal Modulisme ist in mehrere Rubriken geteilt: »Sessions« ist eine Sammlung von live eingespielten Sessions, in »ITATIOM« sprechen Künstler über ihre Instrumente und bei »Early Electromix« finden sich von Petit zusammengestellte Compilations zu Synthesizer-Musik bis in die 1960er Jahre. Jede Rubrik wartet mit ausführlichen Beschreibungen, Interviews und Bildmaterial auf. Mit »Modular Station« gibt es ein eigenes Web-Radio.

Modulisme Sessions wird ab jetzt auch auf Campus & City Radio 94.4 ausgestrahlt; als damit aktuell einziges (freies) Radio im deutschsprachigen Raum.
